Walmart initiates new advertising campaign by dispatching UFOs to Texas

Most people have heard about the mysterious UFOs that appeared over Stephenville Texas earlier this month. But I think the bigger story here is Walmart’s ubiquitous brand advertising in rural America.

When asked how big the UFO was, one witness who saw it said that it was “bigger than a Walmart.”

Could this guy be any more of a walking cliche of a small-town rural citizen? Is this the new measuring system? First there was the American System, then the Metric System, and now comes the Size-relevant-to-a-Walmart- System.

CORRECTION: My girlfriend told me that it’s not called the “American System,” but rather the U.S. Customary System. Then she called me a doofus. I regret the error.

In the UK they call it the Imperial System which sounds more dignified. You can almost pretend we’re not just some assholes on the other side of the world who refuse to modernize to the 18th century standards.
