Uh oh, Ron Paul’s knee-jerk Diggers are back!
Remember about six months ago how you couldn’t visit Digg.com without seeing a pro-Ron Paul link on the front page? It’s because the Ron Paul online movement had organized in such a way so that whole legions of them would Digg up any story that had his name in the title.
For most people, this trend was incredibly irritating, and eventually Digg took steps to fix the problem — making it so that homogenized Diggs had less weight.
Well, it looks like the Ron Paul supporters are trying to game the system once again. As luck would have it, I’m signed up for newsletters from Break The Matrix, a social networking site targeted specifically at Ron Paul’s online movement. The site is owned by Trevor Lyman, who engineered the “money bomb†that raised $6 million for the presidential candidate in a 24-hour period.
Behind a registration-required wall, I found this message:
ANNOUNCING… The BTM Digg Squad – Please Join!
What is it? _Our way of getting organized so we can get important articles into the spotlight. Think of it as a phone tree, except all you have to do is click a few buttons!

That’s it!

Thanks, everyone – this truly is important, and it WILL work.
Shellyp.s. You may, of course, opt out at any time, so don’t let that prevent you from signing up!
You heard her, “get on it.†Or, even better, don’t.

Um, “It’s because the Ron Paul online movement had organized in such a way so that whole legions of them would Digg up any story that had his name in the title.”
You are so very wrong. The Ron Paul online movement was NOT ORGANIZED IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM.
There was no direction from the campaign on this AT ALL.
You are so jealous of the fact that Ron Paul alone garnered this much support just for being WHO HE IS – an AMERICAN HERO.
NH,
When did I ever say anything about the Ron Paul campaign? I’m talking about the online movement. And if you’re trying to say that they didn’t specifically try to organize around Digg to push stories, then perhaps this website will be a rude awakening.
Lots of the huge Ron Paul support sites had “digg this” links on every post, and whole hordes would knee-jerk digg every single story on them.
