This week in music
I have to go to a job interview early tomorrow, so in place of real content, here are some links concerning the music biz. Real content to come soon.
1. Warner Music Group and YouTube Enter Video Distribution and Revenue Agreement:
Warner Music Group Corp. and YouTube, Inc. have entered into an agreement to distribute its collection of music videos on YouTube. WMG will also distribute behind-the-scenes footage, artist interviews, original programming and other special content.
2. Music composers gear up for royalty fight:
Innovation and diversity in European music could be limited if Brussels opens up the European system of collecting royalty payments to competition, says the head of the international council of authors and composers of music (CIAM).
The European system of bodies that collect the royalty payments from various individuals and groups for their copyright holders, such as music composers and songwriters, has been in place for more than 150 years.
3. Music lessons improve memory in young children:
Parents who spend time and money to teach their children music, take heart – a new Canadian study shows young children who take music lessons have better memories than their non-musical peers.
The study showed that after one year of musical training, children performed better in a memory test than those who did not take music classes.
