The hybrid subscription
Some newspapers are offering what are called “hybrid subscriptions.” It’s a subscription in which some days you are given access to the online version to a newspaper and other days you receive the print edition. This Editor and Publisher article doesn’t do a good job of explaining the benefits of such a system. What days of the week would customers want the print edition and what days would they want the online? I guess if you have a weekly commute, you’d want the print edition on the train ride while on weekends you’d have the time to sit down at your computer. Not sure.
