Some weekend links
Here are some media links for your amusement:
1. Travel Book Publishers Try to Reclaim the Web — not what I would consider an easy endeavor. Because of search engines, travelers can find very specific information on their travel destinations, something that I don’t think travel guide companies can mimic.
2. Here is a great argument for why The San Diego Reader, one of the largest alternative weeklies, is going down the tubes.
3. They should make an action movie about this AP reporter’s life. Seriously, this guy deserves an award.
4. The fact that Fox Business News is only pulling in a few thousand viewers wouldn’t be so embarassing for them if it weren’t for the fact that they used playground bully rhetoric against CNBC when they first launched.
5. The Columbia Journalism Review makes a surprisingly good case for why we should bring back “checkbook journalism.” In other words, it argues that journalists should pay their sources.
6. Online video companies are starting to time the release of their videos to catch the lunch-time surfing crowd.
