Ouch!

As a full-time newspaper journalist, I don’t know whether to be offended or just saddened. A recent poll finds that journalism is one of the most least-respected careers in the country. No doubt tainted by Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’reilly types.

I wonder how many people actually consider Limbaugh and O’Reilly to be journalists? Actually, never mind - I really don’t want to know. The answer would be far too depressing.

You should try being an SEO specialist. I usually just introduce myself as an online marketing specialist to avoid the stigma. ;)

I think newspaper journalists may be the most respected journalists left. And I’m not just saying that because I happen to be related to one. I got an email today from a newspaper journalist wanting details for a story that I had helped reveal to her. It’s not something that TV would cover, and it might be something for radio, but the newspaper is just the right spot for it.
