Myspace spokeswoman issues statement about International Delete Your Myspace Account Day
UPDATE: International Delete Your Myspace Account Day is finally here!
A few days ago, I declared January 30th International Delete Your Myspace Account Day.
Not long after it was posted, it got picked up and spread all the way from Digg to MSNBC’s website. Given this fact, I knew it was only a matter of time before Myspace took notice.
Today, in a news article on news.com titled “Myspace signs deal to screen BBC show,” Rebekah Horne, vice president of Fox Interactive Media and MySpace in Australia and New Zealand, had this to say about the event:
One blogger has declared January 30th “International Delete Your MySpace Account Day”.
But MySpace doubts that this will have a great impact on their network.
“This Delete-Your-MySpace day is just about being controversial,” Ms Horne said.
“MySpace is still the biggest social networking site in the world.”
In the words of BBC comedian Catherine Tate, MySpace does not look bothered.
In other news, a journalist for a news wire service interviewed me today about the event — news has continued to spread about IDYMAD.
What else could they say?
If they weren’t bothered why even bring it up?

How dare you try and undermine “the world’s” largest social network and advertising platform? As punishment they will call you irrelevant! Muahahaha.
Little did they know that by doing this your blog traffic would increase and the spotlight in the blogosphere would shine on you, my friend. They’re just scared that us fickle young consumers will change our minds and they’ll have to spend years trying to find new ways to market to us online.
Screw those guys, I’m deleting my account in spite. First MySpace, then Facebook and the world! Long live the revolution!

Deleted, AND facebook deleted. I hate those damned program invites, almost 100 everytime I log in.
I have tried to delete my MySpace account 4 times. I never get the ‘confirmation email’ that I’m supposed to ‘follow the directions exactly as shown’… what the heck??

Wow. Just goes to hsow the power of one person. You alone have made the entire world notice you. Amazing and inspirational. however i wont delete my account cos i only have friend who i know and i used a code to delete all the adds from MY own page so if everyone does it then there will be no adverts on your page! I wont give it out because that’d be plagerism
