Joe Wilson’s opponent raises $41,000 on ActBlue within hours of Obama’s speech
UPDATE: I now have the official fundraising numbers for how much has been brought in since last night.

The words were shouted during Obama’s healthcare speech by South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson, and progressives were not happy with the disrespect his words showed toward the presidential office.
So they took action, with literally thousands of twitter users linking to the Act Blue fundraising page for Joe Wilson’s opponent, Rob Miller.
So how much money have they raised so far? It’s now 11 p.m., mere hours after Obama’s speech, and so far $11,507 $41,000 has been raised in that short span of time.
Tomorrow morning I’m scheduled to speak with a representative of ActBlue and I’ll be able to find out more concrete numbers — where all that traffic was coming from and how quickly the money poured in after the speech.
UPDATE: Less than an hour and a half after I wrote this article, the fundraising numbers are up over $25,000 and climbing.
UPDATE 2: It’s 4:06 a.m. and it’s up over $41,000
UPDATE 3: I’m told that he has raised somewhere around $100k. I’ll get an official number when I speak to the ActBlue spokesman later this morning.

I think a good way to show Joe Wilson our displeasure with his rude behavior is to go to his congressional campaign website https://www.completecampaigns.com/public.asp?name=Wilson&page=2 and donate $ 0.01. If enough people do this it will surely cause some disruption to his campaign and his site. If enough people do it he might realize that his actions as the peoples representative have ramifications.

Better: _MAIL_ an envelope with a protest and no donation. Costs us a few pennies more — but costs Wilson considerably more than that in staff time to process it. And it’s hard to beat the physicality of a large pile of paper when it comes to making an impact.
@Richard Dombrovski. That’s ridiculous. If 100K people do that, Wilson can claim that 100K new supporters have joined up to his cause. He can spin doctor his way out of the actual cash donations. Given this is a campaign of lies, exaggerations and just plain b/s, why not spin this possibility too?
I contributed $200 to Joe Wilson’s campaign BECAUSE of his courageous and truthful (finally!) outburst. I wish more of our GOP friends would start getting tough with President PeeBo, the Liar in Chief.

I am a displaced South Carolinan living in California, and I was never so proud of my Southern roots as when I heard Joe Wilson call out President Obama for lying through his teeth about healthcare for illegal aliens. I am more offended by the hypocrasy of a Congress who denounces Joe Wilson for the courage to defy “decorum” while the President of the United States lies to the American public with impunity. If more REAL Americans would speak out like Joe Wilson, perhaps we could stop the train wreck the liberals are hell-bent on having.

Miller has now raised almost 800 thousand dollars. So far. The President did not lie. Wilson has a right to his opinion but he needs to show respect to the man the people elected as their president.

Just sent Wilson $4,000.00. He is winning the fundraising war from his battle cry “YOU LIE” scream. Well over $1M raised for him since his heroic actions, dwarfing the contributions to his opponent from the frivolous left!!
Gonna be a great election season in 2010, as we take the steps to retake our nation back.
