I feel used

Do you ever get this odd feeling after a bunch of big A list blogs have linked to you and sent a bunch of traffic your way; it usually settles in a day or two after the big traffic day. All those visitors stop in, poke around a bit, and then go back to A list blogger land, leaving you with the same traffic you had before the deluge of links.

You feel used, like an attractive person wined and dined you, got you in the sack with promises of future romance, only to quickly depart with some lame excuse about how he/she has to meet this guy about this thing. My phone number? Oh, well, you see, my cell phone got shut off and I don’t know when I’ll get a new one. Anyway, gotta run, bye!

It’s the online equivalent of the walk of shame.

But I bet this warm feeling stays, that every once in a while you get romantic with an attractive person – in fact, each time a different attractive person.
I’m sure something remains from this sweet meeting, doesn’t it?

Once, count that as one finger on either hand, did an A-lister link to me. It was also one of the few I deeply respect..Crooks and Liars.

My “hits” grew 10 fold immediately. Slowly they tapered off, but it was a rush while it lasted.

    Well.

People want to read A list bloggers because they figure that they mean something more than a Joe Schmoe blog.

And when they post a comment, they want that comment to be read by a thousand people, more than they want it to be read by 100.

    Them’s the breaks.
