Feminist Porn
Over the years, I’ve noticed that feminists seem to be highly divided on the issue of porn, and whether they’re for it or against it. One side will say that it’s demeaning towards women. Others say that women shouldn’t be ashamed to express their own sexuality.
Perhaps as a middle point for the two, we have some film awards for feminist pornography.
This particular writer is all in a huff:
Oh Lordy Lordy! The last bastion of male chauvinist pigs is about to fall. A group of feminazis, no doubt high on testosterone, in Toronto has launched a clutch of annual ‘Best Film Awards’ for “feminist pornography”.
Till now we have been told that porn in any form is an assault on the dignity of women, a denial of their right not to be known only as receptacles of male bodily fluids and unquestioning providers of pleasure, often verging on the perverse, to men. Feminist writers and activists have been tirelessly pointing out for decades that the grossness of pornography - we are not talking of dainty pillow books or girlie magazines - only highlights the loathsome crudity of men’s secret desires.
Andrea Dworkin, icon of provocative feminism and high priestess of the movement against porn who died a disgruntled, frustrated and crotchety middle aged woman last year, made intercourse, in her eponymous bestseller, of any kind look filthy, distasteful and dishonourable. Porn, she would often thunder to deafening applause, is the theory; rape is the practice.
In order to try to define what constitutes porn as “feminist porn,” we have this:
And what is the Pepsi difference with feminist porn? For Gallant, there are three criteria that determine whether porn is feminist. The first is that the film shows women getting their fair share of pleasure. “So, real female orgasms, and women are actually having a good time. That’s first and foremost.” Second is that the work be directed or produced by a woman. And third is that it expand the range of female sexual expression currently seen. These criteria still include male filmmakers, as long as they can come in with two out of three. “And we have to think it’s hot,” she laughs.
Funny, I would have thought that one of the requirements would be that the women in the porn had unshaved armpits and legs. ZING!

That’s pretty funny stuff.
wow as i finished reading this artical i couldn’t help wonder what an extreme-feminists motivation is for hating porn. IMHO people idealize a belief system when they have something to hide.
P.S. i was ROFLMFAO at the asian singles add right next to the article about feminism, lifes ironies kick ass
Wow you are smrt and phunny. From your nice pic I’m sure you can give a mean 2 minutes of semi-flacid missionary position too. I promise to be submissive and not threaten your clearly tenuous masculinity. Call me babe!
Gee Simon, you hate women why?? I like Samantha Waterson, she’s wittier than you.
did you know women have body hair? it’s funny, sometimes in porn they do SHAVE, or - another form of hair removal, WAX. they actually do this alot. and if they don’t, we, [me- or any women would have legs, armpits, croth…HAIR ALL over our bodies?!!!!!
imagine.
women have almost the same body hair as you.. A MAN.
hmmmm.
and hey… maybe, ME and Samantha could get together, show you a thing or 2. OR i’m sorry, YOU could really show us a thing or 2.
WAIT, what AM i talking about?! I’m not even a lesbian!!!!
But,that doesn’t really matter anyway? RIGHT?
Feminism has nothing to do with whether a person shaves their legs. It has everything to do with believing in the equality of women, and supporting women’s rights. Implying that feminism is about having hairy legs is about as inflammatory as saying the civil rights movement was about black men trying to get with white women.
Here is a link to an interesting website from the “other” perspective (i.e. how the porn industry can often be hurtful to women):

You guys are caricaturing Dworkin (which most people do when they do not want to grapple with complex issues).
I have talked to feminists who are anti-porn and I said that while I agree with their critiques, that I feel that there can be representations of womens’ sexuality that are positive and not degrading. Know what? They agree with me!
But what you all will not acknowledge is that most of ten porn out tehre that sells DOES DEGRADE women.
Porn that consists of cum shots on to the face of a woman that looks exactly how society expects them to look ( thin, tits, no body hair) while she is on her knees beneath the man, cleary is focusing on mens pleasure. And making women subservient. Mainstream porn commodifys women by making them exsist solely for mens pleasure. Therefor porn focusing on womens pleasure, directed by women and featuring women that appear outside of the beauty norm is ‘feminist porn’.
Everyone obviously has their own views for or against porngraphy. To each her own.
But taking this all in consideration must do a number threatening the concept of your own masculinity.
Real men are feminists, pal.
